Tihema Botanicals was born from aroha, in honour of my late mama, Tihema.
My mum carried a deep love for rongoā throughout her life. She believed in the quiet healing that comes from the whenua, and lavender was always her favourite. When illness changed her life and paralysis took away the independence she once knew, rongoā became a place where her spirit could still find peace.
In the mornings she loved receiving mirimiri and using her kawakawa balms. Those small moments of care soothed her worries and settled her wairua while her body tried to find its way again.
After she passed, I felt called back to the same medicines she loved — infusing kawakawa, creating balms, and reconnecting with the healing she trusted so deeply.
Tihema Botanicals is my way of carrying her forward — through rongoā, through healing, and through aroha.
